Some articles on Satanism by academics, reporters, etc.

  1. On Satanism itself
  2. Refuting the "Satanic Ritual Abuse" witchhunt of the 1980's and early 1990's

  1. On Satanism itself

All of the pages listed below are at least somewhat outdated, and most are quite outdated, but still worth reading.

As I said, all of the above articles are at least somewhat outdated. For example, none of the above articles discuss the recent growth of non-LaVeyan theistic Satanism on the Internet, at least in the English-speaking world. LaVey's Satanic Bible is no longer quite the "diabolical authority" that it was even as recently as 2002. The Satanic Bible is still very influential, but now, since the advent of the Internet, more and more people have become Satanists by means other than reading the Satanic Bible.

If you happen to be a professional scholar of new religions, please consider doing some up-to-date research on Satanism. Please see my article To scholars of new religions: Suggestions for research on Satanism.

  2. Refuting the "Satanic Ritual Abuse" witchhunt of the 1980's and early 1990's

This section has been replaced by a much more comprehenseive new page about The "Satanic Ritual Abuse" scare of the 1980's and early 1990's on my new (as of early 2006) website Against Satanic Panics.
