  2. Meeting your fellow theistic / traditional Satanists in NYC

    One relatively safe way to meet people offline is via the New York City Satanism Meetup, which I've re-named NYC Satanists, Luciferians, Dark Pagans, and LHP Occultists, which holds informal dinner gatherings in diners in Manhattan and Queens, in locations convenient to public transportation. The Satanism Meetup welcomes Satanists of all law-abiding kinds, both theistic and atheistic/symbolic, plus a larger set of people interested in "dark" spirituality, plus open-minded people interested in learning about the many forms of Satanism, Luciferianism, "dark" Paganism, and "Left Hand Path" occultism.

    Another way to meet theistic Satanists is to arrange in-person meetings with people you've found online. Before you ask for an in-person meeting - or even exchange phone numbers - with anyone whom you encounter in an online setting, please read my article On the need for caution in meeting your fellow Satanists:  Some important warnings.

    In addition to the NYC Satanism meetup, I'm also trying to launch a New York City proto-congregation of the Church of Azazel. If you are interested in the Church of Azazel paradigm, you may meet me at one of our public meetings (see our Meetup site here). The Church of Azazel has been largely dormant from 2006 to 2008, but, as of early 2009, we now have a very passionate co-administrator, Noelle, so we are now making a serious attempt to get it off the ground as an offline group.

    Noell and I are also trying to launch another group, New Yorkers Against Religion-Based Bigotry, which also holds public gatherings (see our Meetup site here). NYARBB isn't just for Satanists, etc., but does have a Committee Against Satanic Panics. (See also my website Against Satanic Panics.)

    If you wish to contact me online rather than in person, please post a comment on one of my blogs. (I used to run a Yahoo group for theistic Satanists in New York City. I no longer do. My blogs are where I now prefer to do all my online interaction.)

    My online activities are very intermittent, due to a hectic work schedule. I sometimes neglect my blogs for months at at time. If I do not promptly approve or respond to a comment you posted on one of my blogs, you may call my attention to it via Noelle, co-administrator of the Church of Azazel, via the Church of Azazel's Myspace page, which is run by Noelle.

    If you wish to meet me in person, the place to do so is at the Satanism Meetup, or at meetings of either the Church of Azazel proto-congregation or New Yorkers Against Religion-Based Bigotry. Alternatively, you may begin to get to know me online via public dialogue on one or more of my my blogs. If you contact me online, please do NOT immedately ask me for an in-person meeting (apart from the Satanism Meetups and other public gatherings), or ask me for my phone number. I'd like to get to know you a bit first, either at a public meeting or via one or more of my blogs.

    The NYC Satanism Meetup just holds dinner gatherings. It would be nice to have groups of like-minded Satanists to do rituals with, too. It would be nice to have a variety of different Satanist groups who do rituals using a variety of different Satanist paradigms. Eventually I would like there to be a network of at least several different theistic Satanist groups in the NYC area, with different approaches to ritual, theology, etc. I personally would like to form not only a New York City congregation of the Church of Azazel, but also a larger network of New York metro area theistic Satanist groups which don't necessarily agree with the specific views and aims of the Church of Azazel. It would also be nice to have a network of non-LaVeyan symbolic Satanists as well.

    To have these networks, we'll first need to build up a solid core of regular attendees at the Satanism Meetup. If you're a theistic Satanist in New York City, please consider attending regularly and otherwise helping us to build a larger and more diverse Satanist community here in New York.
